Hello, this fundraising page is for Korey who is 8 years old and has epilepsy. He is currently on the Ketogenic Diet. The Ketogenic Diet is specifically designed for children with epilepsy. It is a special high-fat, low-carbohydrate diet that helps to control seizures. The Ketogenic Diet is usually recommended to patients whose seizures have not responded to medicines. Several studies have shown that the Ketogenic Diet does reduce or prevent seizures in many children whose seizures could not be controlled by medications.
With Korey currently taking this journey, his family would love to help raise funds, in honor of Korey, to help fund a "new Ketogenic kitchen" just for the Ketogenic Diet patients at CHOP. Each family that has a child who is prescribed this diet must go through cooking classes to learn how to prepare each individual meal, at CHOP. Learning how to cook each meal is very crucial to each patient, each meal must be measured and prepared a specific way.
With the overwhelming need for financial help to make this a reality, we are reaching out to all of our family, friends and community to help make this possible.
