• Non-run/walk participants may also attend the post-race party and pay $25 at the door

All adult run/walk participants registered by May 1 will receive a technical t-shirt. All other entrants will receive a t-shirt based on availability.

Kids who participate in the Kids' Race will receive race medals.

Prizes awarded to first, second and third male and female overall finishers of the 5K as well as to first, second and third male and female under 18 finishers.

Eosinophilic diseases were unknown 30 years ago, but today diagnoses of it are increasing rapidly. CHOP estimates 1:1000 kids are suffering from an eosinophilic disease.

What is an eosinophilic disease?

Eosinophilic disease is an autoimmune disorder characterized by a large number of white blood cells, called eosinophils. Eosinophils cause life-threatening problems when they appear in high quantities in areas other than the blood and intestine. The most common form of eosinophilic disease is eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE).

What causes EoE?

Food allergies, but they do not manifest the same way "traditional" food allergies do. In some cases, kids are allergic to all food and survive on a liquid medical diet made up of pure amino acids. This liquid is consumed by mouth or through a feeding tube. A piece of cake, a bowl of rice, even a single carrot stick can make kids violently ill. If untreated, they can suffer life-threatening consequences.

The Center for Pediatric Eosinophilic Disorders at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia is one of the largest programs in the country dedicated to researching and treating EoE. Eosinophilic diseases were unknown 30 years ago, but today diagnosis of them is increasing rapidly. CHOP estimates 1 in 1,000 kids is suffering from an eosinophilic disease.
