Hello, this fundraising page is for Korey who is 8 years old and has epilepsy. He is currently on the Ketogenic Diet. The Ketogenic Diet is specifically designed for children with epilepsy. It is a special high-fat, low-carbohydrate diet that helps to control seizures. The Ketogenic Diet is usually recommended to patients whose seizures have not responded to medicines. Several studies have shown that the Ketogenic Diet does reduce or prevent seizures in many children whose seizures could not be controlled by medications.

With Korey currently taking this journey, his family would love to help raise funds, in honor of Korey, to help fund a "new Ketogenic kitchen" just for the Ketogenic Diet patients at CHOP. Each family that has a child who is prescribed this diet must go through cooking classes to learn how to prepare each individual meal, at CHOP. Learning how to cook each meal is very crucial to each patient, each meal must be measured and prepared a specific way.

With the overwhelming need for financial help to make this a reality, we are reaching out to all of our family, friends and community to help make this possible.

We thank you in advance for any donation you are able to give in honor of Korey for this very important fundraiser. Its not only for CHOP, but for each individual child that will climb the same steps as Korey.

With our sincere gratitude and appreciation,

Jim & Dawn Walton and Family

Hi Korey! Thank you for helping to make it possible for families to have access to the ketogenic diet! My son Nico is 7 years old and was recently diagnosed with GLUT-1 DS. After years of failed medications we tried the ketogenic diet. It has completely stopped his seizures and given him back his smile! God bless you!!!

I saw your story on Fox the other night and I stopped in my tracks! Good luck on your fundraising! I have been witness to this diet and what it does for a child with epilepsy. I am so happy that more children are going to be able to use this diet and learn. Our friends determination for their son was admirable... and the results were perfect. This was his cure. We are glad he has been seizure free for way over a year now! I know you will be successful!

Hi to all the Waltons. As usual you are thinking of others amid your own challenges. Korey, I've heard great things about how you are adjusting to your new diet. I'm proud of you and know you will stick with it and reap all the benefits. Maybe you can demonstrate a keto diet recipe in the new kitchen at CHOP. Love, Mrs. Blair

This is such a great project! While we are lucky, and my daughter's seizures are controlled with meds, and we hope we never need this kitchen, we also know there are many people who do!
CHOP is such a huge part of our lives...especially the 6th floor of Wood Center!
Best of luck in your fund raising!

Korey sweetie, I know what you are dealing with somewhat. Although, my case isn't nearly as severe as yours. I was diagnosed with Epilepsy a few years ago too. I just want you to know that you're not alone dealing with this condition, and that God is holding you tightly and Mary is whispering in your ear that everything will be okay. I'm here for you honey and praying for you. Just keep fighting and I love you!
