Community Programs

When it was founded in 1855, Children’s Hospital planted strong roots in Philadelphia. CHOP maintains those roots today through community programs that improve the health and well being of disadvantaged children throughout the Delaware Valley. Such programs aim to prevent asthma, improve literacy rates, teach children healthy eating and exercise habits, and bring healthcare services to children living in homeless shelters, to name just a few. CHOP works collaboratively with foundations, corporations, local government, community leaders and other stakeholders to expand access to healthcare services with the goal of developing healthier, safer, better informed neighborhoods.

Contributions from our corporate and foundation partners enable CHOP’s community programs to remain dedicated and effective, improving the lives of Philadelphia-area children who face enormous challenges every day.
