The excellent, family-centered care that The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia provides to children and their families is only part of our story. You don't have to be on a clinical team delivering treatment to patients to be a partner in their care; every one of CHOP's employees contributes to the Hospital's excellence, from people working behind the scenes in Environmental Services and Maintenance to those on the front lines in the Emergency Department and Security. Listen to some more stories from the Hospital, stories about the compassion shown by our staff every day, in every department, in every interaction with patients and caregivers. When it comes to making a difference in the lives of families at CHOP, we all have a voice.

Voices of Excellence

  • Richard Crowther

Richard helps patients and parents every day—that's all part of being a security officer at CHOP—but sometimes a little extra compassion goes a long way. He recalls two bittersweet examples of how even the simplest of gestures can provide comfort to families who need it, at just the right time.

  • Becky Donahue

Becky, an Emergency Department nurse, makes a promise to herself every time she comes to work: to ensure that families get exceptional care at CHOP. She shares the incredible experience of comforting an anxious mother and helping her become active in her baby's recovery.

  • Connie Law

Connie describes how clinical pharmacists partner with care teams to keep patients safe. She and her colleagues help save lives at the Hospital by monitoring and managing all patient medications, and in this case, their quick action led to a better outcome for one teen.

  • Mike Majeski

Even after 26 years at CHOP, Mike is still in awe of all the good it accomplishes for children who need help. He and his team in Facilities do their part, working behind the scenes to keep patients safe and the Hospital running twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.
