At the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, we believe that healthy communities ensure a healthy future something that every child deserves. At CHOP, it happens through dedication to the highest level of care, research and expertise to improve the lives of the children we serve and ensure that communities everywhere are healthy places for kids to grow up.

Did You Know

  • In 2010, CHOP donated $70,000 toward operating costs and internal programs to support families who stay at the Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House.

  • More than 175 CHOP cancer patients attended last summer's Ronald McDonald Camp. CHOP donated $10,000 toward the cost of creating these memories

  • Our language services investment was $3 million to interpret 44,500 encounters in 72 languages

  • PolicyLab involves children and families in improving health services.

  • 2,092 primary care center patients were studied to improve developmental screenings and access to early intervention services

  • 405 children in the Philadelphia welfare system were followed to identify opportunities to strengthen services

  • 86 children were enrolled in a project providing co-located behavioral health services in two local foster care agencies

  • In 2010, $440,000 worth of in-kind services and supplies were donated to families and children by Early Head Start. 229 children were served.

  • More than 600 children were screened for heart problems in 2010, and some were diagnosed with previously unknown cardiac abnormalities.

  • The Hospital's Haiti Disaster Response efforts included approximately $96,000 in supplies, equipment and expertise. Additional medical expenses were accrued from care given to several Haitian children at CHOP.

  • There were 117,694 primary care visits to the practices in medically underserved areas in 2010, including the Adolescent Care Center.
