What is the significance of "blue tag"?

Since patients with sickle cell disease often need many blood transfusions, it is best for them to receive blood that very closely matches their own. Donors with the same ethnic background usually make the best match.

Blood donors can guarantee their donation goes to help a patient with sickle cell disease by asking for the "Blue Tag." The "Blue Tag" notifies the American Red Cross testing lab that a blood donation is designated for the sickle cell program and the blood will be specifically matched for a patient with sickle cell disease.

How can we participate?

Sponsorship packages are tailored for individuals and corporations that are committed to Children's Hospital's mission. The sponsorship levels range from $2,500 - $25,000 and provide various opportunities for friends to join the Hospital by showcasing their leadership and support of the Sickle Cell Center. Advertisement opportunities range from $50-$500. Sponsors automatically receive full page/full color ad as well as tickets to the Gala. Program book sizes and specifications.
